Well, the election is over, and I've managed to pull myself away from Fallout 3 long enough for a quick post.
Back on October 29, Oslo had a snow day! It really was quite beautiful, as you can see from the picture below. Since then it's ranged from quite warm to a bit chilly, but nothing too bad. This morning was extremely wet, though. I'm really hoping to see more snow later this winter (hopefully sooner rather than later).
From what I can tell - we'll see if I still believe this in a couple of months - if you can survive a Chicago winter, you can survive winter in Oslo. The biggest difference is the days are shorter over here.

Beautiful photo of snowing. The winters have been rather mild lately so you might to have to wait for a more permanent snow. When it comes, beware of slippery roads.
Thanks! It seems hard to take bad pictures of snow sometimes... So easy to take bad pictures of everything else, though. Hopefully I'll get more chances soon, but as you say, with mild winters, it's hard. --I think I need to plan a day trip out of the city at some point. A couple of coworkers have suggested that they should take me skiing later in the year... I suppose I'd need a different coat for skiing (trench coats are great around the city, not so great for sports, though).
I love the picture you took. It is so beautiful and dreamy. How is the weather in Oslo now? I guess it must be bitterly chilly. If I went there now, I would not be used to such weather. Strangely, I don't like winter, but I love snow. Hope I can take a trip to Oslo one day.
