Happy Thanksgiving!

For all the Americans who read this, I hope your Thanksgiving brought you lots of turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and all the other trimmings.

So, the holiday season has begun, even in Norway.  So I'll get to find out more about Norwegian holiday traditions like Pepperknøtter, which seem, more or less, to be gingersnaps, although the kind I tried didn't quite have that nice spicy taste.

Are there any special holidays or festivals in Norway that are different from those in America?

I haven't come across any special holidays in Norway that you wouldn't find in many other countries. They do have their independence day on May 17, which should be interesting to see next year. Any other days that I hear of I'll definitely add a post for.

Regarding the weather in Olso right now, it's fairly cold - at least by their standards, but nothing worse than what I've seen in Chicago. Today the high was around 25 F (-4 C), so you definitely need a good coat. The weekend is supposed to be a bit warmer, just above freezing. Complaining about the cold seems to be a popular winter activity here!
